I think cotton candy (to represent ash) and bone-shaped candies are called for! Not to mention masks of one's favorite characters and faux bracers with removable gems.

I'd go for a holiday called "Day of Ash and Bone"! Kinda like Día de los Muertos.
You just know they have fantastic mead, ale, and food served up for that day!
