Very cool! Reminds me a little of what I'm doing in my fairy tale retelling series with all the different art guilds, one of which is also a front for a guild of mercenaries/assassins.
Oh, they are! So much potential with them whether as villains or not. I had a fun running minor sub-plot in the first book of the king and Registrar of Guilds having to sort out a squabble between two groups of art guilds (sculpture guilds vs potters) before it led to an all out guild war.
Nice! There's also all the small short stories that could come out of each one, too. Like their founding or key moments when they work together, or not, over a problem!
Absolutely! They're just such a rich worldbuilding element and can add a lot of depth as they touch on both the economic and political aspects within their worlds. So many things you can do with them!
